I have a D-link WUA-1340 usb 2.0 wireless-g adapter and am using kalyway 10.5.2 osx86 install. I tried using the ralink.dmg file to install and run the driver for this device. Dmg packager for mac. It worked execpt for sometimes I had to unplug and replugin the adapter after restarts. Unfortunately I had to reinstall OSX, and seeing that D-link had its own drivers for OSX for this adapter, I decided to try them (others on the forum seemed to like them better). Well, I installed the d-link driver, restart when the installer said to, and upon restart, it worked amazing and was just plain awesome.

However, when I restarted the computer again, the dlink software could not find the adapter and only reported 'no device' as its status. I tried repluging it in, reinstalling the driver, but nothing helped. Finally, I just reinstalled my kalyway osx. Again, the driver worked upon the first restart after installation, but after another restart, the adapter was not found just as before. I checked the system profiler, and it reported the device as being connected under the 'usb' section.

So OSX sees it, but the driver doesn't detect it. I have tried different verisons of the ralink drivers, but nothing fixes the problem. One thing that caused it to work only for one restart was to delete the file found at /system/library/extensions.mkext this made the device work after a restart but not after another restart, so still need a fix. My system is a p35-ds3P, q6600, 2 gb ram, 8600gt, trying to use a d-link wua-1340 wireless g usb adapter. If you need more info on my system or my question, just ask in a reply-thanks If I can get this to work, my OSX86 / XP dual boot will be complete!

Booting the system with the '-f' switch does make the wireless function. But once I restart the computer again (this time without that -f switch), the 'no device' problem is again present. I am not sure what -f does.

If someone knows and can tell me why it would fix my problem, that would be helpful. Also, if this ends up being the only way for me to get the wireless to work. 1) how do I make OSX always boot with the '-f' switch? 2) will booting with -f everytime cause other problems? Like does it reset every driver or something? I hope there is a better solution than this, but at least now I know something works.
